START WITH THE FUNDAMENTALS
You do not need experience to begin. Learn how to move, control positions and work with a training partner—one step at a time.
Ask us about your first BJJ classCheck the live schedule for current BJJ sessions. Tell us your experience level and we can help you choose a starting point.
Bring water and clean training clothes. Ask the team about gi or no-gi equipment for your chosen class before your first visit.
Meet your coach and let them know you are new so we can go over the basics before class. Begin with fundamentals and controlled practice, and ask questions as you learn.
TWO WAYS TO BUILD YOUR GAME
Gi training uses a traditional jiu-jitsu uniform and includes grips on the jacket and trousers. No-gi training uses athletic grappling clothing and focuses on controlling your partner without those fabric grips.
Both formats develop positional control, escapes and submissions. Check each class listing for its format and level.
